Solar panels usually need fuses specifically designed for photovoltaic systems with common types as follows.

In-line fuses like Littelfuse's POWR-GARD® SPFI and SPXI series have voltage ratings of 1000VDC and 1500VDC respectively interrupting ratings of 20kA and 30kA respectively and current ranges from 2A to 30A; they come with "integrated" end caps for integration into wiring harnesses meet UL 2579 electrical requirements and can achieve electrical insulation through overmolding or heat shrinking.

Small ceramic tube fuses such as Taiming SPV Solar Protection Fuse from Dongguan Taiming Electronics Co. Ltd. have a size of 10×38 mm are UL2579-certified offer a maximum DC voltage of 1000V a rated current range of 0.5-120A and a segmented current rating of 1000-30000A and can safely protect PV modules and conductors from reverse overcurrent.

J-Class Case Size Fuses include Littelfuse's SPFJ series which are among the first fuses in the electrical industry to obtain UL248-19 certification; they are designed to protect photovoltaic applications at 1000VDC have current ratings of 70-450A are suitable for DC cable protection and can be mounted on busbars or in specially designed 1000VDC fuseholders.
